Bye, Bye Bumps: 3 Post Wax Tips That Will Make a Difference
You know the drill. You’re looking forward to your wax appointment, ready to bare all for the summer season, and then you end up with those ugly, post-wax bumps. While mostly painless, they can turn into something really nasty if not taken care of properly. While you can give them a chance to go away on their own, why wait? Try these three tips from The Wax Queen herself to make sure your skin stays smooth and blemish-free long after your appointment.
1. No Pain, All Gain
Avoid pain, inflammation, and redness by first preparing the skin properly prior to your appointment. Make sure your hair is long enough (at least ¼ of an inch), exfoliate, and moisturize the skin regularly in the days leading up to your appointment. Pre-wax care can go a long way in eliminating post-wax issues. If you are worried about pain and swelling, you can take ibuprofen about an hour before your appointment, then after apply a post-wax soothing cream designed to provide instant irritation relief. Certain all-natural skincare ingredients will help with some of those immediate issues that pop up...rich antioxidants such as green and white tea, cooling aloe, and calming arnica will help cool, heal and moisturize inflamed areas.
2. Exfoliate, Gently
24-hours after your wax appointment, you can begin exfoliating and moisturizing. We suggest using our body wash paired with exfoliating gloves to gently treat the area and help prevent bumps and ingrown hairs. It has the natural benefits of pine essential oil that cleanses and conditions the skin (plus it’s refreshing too), and sea minerals that nourish and prevent dryness. The right skincare product can be used daily: apply body wash to wet exfoliating gloves as you would a washcloth, then rub hands together and gently scrub your body from the neck down. Focus on recently waxed body parts. Did you know? Exfoliating can also help boost circulation, improve blood flow, and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
